Hand Embroidery Workshop

  • The Edinburgh Remakery 127 Leith Walk, EH6 8NP Edinburgh, (map)

Breathe new life into your clothes in this brand new Hand Embroidery workshop with embroiderer Abigail of Abigail King Design.

Embroidery is a simple yet effective technique to transform your belongings, adding unique, delicate details to an otherwise plain piece of clothing, or introducing a range of funky patterns and colours to a design to make it completely unique!

This workshop will teach you a range of different hand embroidery techniques and stitches, such as a running stitch, satin stitch and French knots, which you can use to create different finishes and add character to your clothing.

You’ll be given plenty of opportunity to experiment with these techniques and get comfortable with the stitches before using the skills you’ve learnt to start upcycling your own piece of clothing. This could be a pair of jeans, a denim jacket, an old t-shirt or shirt, or even a tote or shoulder bag that needs revamping! Anything made from denim, cotton or cotton blends is perfect for embroidery, however leather and fur or faux fur items are not suitable.

This workshop is ideal for beginners or those looking to refresh their embroidery skills and try out something new. All materials, tools, and equipment are provided, including an embroidery hoop, practice fabrics, and embroidery threads in a variety of colours, but please feel free to bring along any colour threads you would specifically like to incorporate.
