Perspectives on the Sustainable Development Goals

  • Edinburgh University Sustainable Development Association G.03, 50 George Square (map)

The 17 Sustainable Development Goals were set by the United Nations General Assembly in 2015 in order to address both new and longstanding global needs such as zero hunger, climate action, and decent work and economic growth. The Edinburgh University Sustainable Development Association along with the Edinburgh University Model United Nations Society invites you to a panel discussion on the Sustainable Development Goals and their political, economic, and philosophical aspects.

How effective is the UN, and its policies, as a change-making body when it comes to sustainability and human rights? What explicit or implicit stance do the goals take on economic growth and its relationship to sustainability? And how philosophically ambitious (or problematic) are the goals in their attempt to define the good life?

Keep an eye out for details on our amazing speakers.

The panel discussion will be roughly an hour with time for a short Q&A afterwards.
